Microsoft Excel: Use Excel online to enter multiple changes

Objective

It may happen that multiple changes should be made in the system at once, and in order to facilitate the work of HR Managers, our solution allows the use of Excel online to process the necessary adjustments. You can open a list of records in Excel Online, make changes, and then save those changes back to HR for Dynamics. This is particularly useful when you need to update multiple records at once.

Prerequisites

  • You are HR Manager
  • You already have records created in HR for Dynamics
  • You want to edit multiple records at once

Click Through

  • Start in HR HUB
  • In the left side menu, navigate to the area where you want to modify data (e.g. Employees)
  • On the ribbon, click on Export to Excel
  • Click on Open in Excel Online
  • Perform the desired changes in the Excel Online Sheet
  • When you're done, click Save

Hint

  • After saving, the changes can be seen in real time in Dynamics.
  • Data Analysis and Visualization: Exporting data to Excel Online enables you to create PivotTables, charts, and other visualizations. You can analyze data, identify trends, and gain insights more effectively.
  • Ease of Use: Excel Online provides a familiar interface for users who are comfortable with Excel. It simplifies data modification and reduces the complexity associated with importing data.

Recommendations

  • For very large amounts of data to be modified, we recommend using a static worksheet instead and re-uploading it after the changes have been made.
